ACHIEVER OF FOLAWIYO AS MAYOR LAGOS ISLAND EAST

When Olusoga Olushola, the present Chief Press Secretary, to Executive Chairman, Lagos lsland East, Hon Muibi Alade Folawiyo, MAF, posted on Facebook, July 2021 that “Experience Continues” as MAF speaks, “I have worked with and served under 5 Council Chairmen; from Prince Ademola Adele to Mayor Kamal Olawale Salau-Bashua. If I gathered their experiences and I could not perform, then I am a mad person.”
In my response to this quote and while Olusoga Olushola blocked me on Facebook was that I said, “Tomorrow, if he fails to perform, people starts calling him a MAD person, he will say they are sponsoring some people to blackmail him or distract his administration. I wish him the best of luck, to be the next chairman in the Lagos Island East come 24th July 2021.”
The above quotes captivated my interest when Abdulihamind Olayiwola, the Golden son, one of the strong progressives’ and grassroot politician in Lagos Island spoke to me on phone last week Thursday about the development strides of Lagos Island East.
On Saturday, I took a tour round the council area to see for myself. Today, with these pieces, I broke my long-time silence to commend the efforts of Mr Mayor for his tremendous achievement in Lagos Island East.
The emergence of the Executive Chairman, Hon., Folawiyo of Lagos Island Council Development Area, LCDA, led administration birthed so many expectations as promised during his electioneering to bring real local policies as a dividend of participatory democracy. From the day, he received a Certificate of Return and sworn-in, information
gathered that, he kicked the ball rolling as many campaign manifestoes have been achieved within limited time such as presentations of GCE forms, signing of council’s Bye-Laws, celebration of council Retirees, distribution of grants in Aid to CDA’s, Presentations of working Tools to the Physical challenged, Celebration of the Aged and Free medical screening for them, Official Commissioning of Dr (Mrs C.Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu) Community Primary Healthcare Center Anikantamo, Presentations of Education materials to Pupils of Lagos Island East Montessori Nursery and Primary School, 13th Edition of the Community Skills Acquisition Centres Graduation Ceremony, Official Flag-off operations of Lagos Island East Metro shuttle transport scheme, Official Commissioning of Otunba Olufemi Pedro Primary Community Healthcare centre, Dumare, Distribution of Support Grants to person with Disabilities, Distribution of Support grants to widows, Community Marketing, and Lagos Island East Artisans Day.
The Council Chairman, Mayor ensures that residents don’t only have access to good health facilities, but renovated, and equipped Primary Health Centers with modern medical ultra scan machine, making the centers like a secondary hospital in Lagos state.
The project continues to provide free prenatal care, free delivery, and free scan for every pregnant woman living in the vicinity without charges.
Folawiyo came to fill unimaginable expectations gaps and the yearning of the people of Lagos Island East with others infrastructural development to be commissioned are; Sura Community Primary Healthcare Center, En suite Council Flats, Adeniji Adele phase 2, Sandgrouse Provision Market Phase 1, Re-construction of Tokunboh by Odunfa/upper campus Roads with drainage, Re-construction of Beecroft Road Drainage, Re-construction of Atiko Road with Drainage with installation of street lights
In the pre local government election, I find it difficult to support and campaign for him being a writer and Political Activist but for party man like GoldenSon, stood by and campaigned for him rigorously as active politician and party man to the core. No bitterness in politics expect those fails to learn from the act of politics.
In juxtaposition of post election, I can say that he has shown a wide expectation of great success of impactive policy and oriented program to the people. In modern democratic practice and all levels of government, it is the responsibility of every government to simplify the existence of its citizenry through the implementation of lofty life to improve policy initiatives. Folawiyo has continued to championed citizen- centred policies and the plights of its citizenry, to enhance transparency.
I pray he will not be derailed, so he will not be called MAD person.
